I needed a picture for Friday, May 16th. It was late. So I took some pictures of a dog toy under the coffee table. My first results looked like what’s posted above. I bet that the white balance was set to cloudy initially, but I must have deleted the first few results. They freaked me out a bit. So then I started to play with the white balance. All these pictures were taken with the flash on, and red eye reduction on, because I was really trying to get a picture of Jake carrying his chicken…but he wouldn’t let me. The one above is incandescent.

This one is fluorescent.

This one is shade.

And the last is flash.

I was going to take a picture of my husband’s new D300 for the day, but he thought that would be making fun of him…so I didn’t.

Two bird in fountain pictures in a row. What are you going to do?

This was taken with a Sigma 70-300, which does NOT autofocus on my D40. This is the case for the oriole pic too. So I’ve learned the ‘take lots of pics because if you move even slightly, you’ve blown the focus’ method of shooting. I love digital. But I do want a 300mm lens that will autofocus.

I just couldn’t resist. I’m really excited about this one. But still, I’m trying to develop my ‘eye’ for cropping. So I’m going to do what I didn’t think I’d do…post two versions here.

Thoughts?
